Recovering the Family Tree

| During the summer of 1997, I began an active search to find my birth
father. My natural parents divorced when I was four, and my mother died
of cancer when I was seven. Soon after, my sister and I were adopted by
relatives in California After twenty-seven years of separation, I finally
found William Jerry Howell in Massachusetts. The reunion has been wonderful. |
| The next stage of my search involves tracking the Howell family tree
backwards from Arcadia, Louisiana. The notes posted here trace back five
generations to Casper Neal Howell (1816-1889) and Elizabeth Ann Scott (1820-1858),
and then track clues leading to William Howell, born in Wales in about
1585. The line leads through Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia. I am
also following the surnames Gardner, Jowers, Causey, Cox, Dupree, Pringle,
and Wagnon. |
