The will of John Baker of Retherfield in Sussex, dated 1623, mentions “the children of my aunt Howell deceased” (page 1347)
The will of gentleman Robert Baker of Beyham in Sussex, dated May 1604, mentions “the children of my sister Howell” (page 1345)
The will of Mary Bromfield of Bolder in Southampton, dated 1653, mentions “Alice Howell, wife of Samuel Howell” (page 1430)
The will of clothier William Glover of Dedham in County of Essex, dated 1609, bequeaths “to my cousin Anne Howell, forty shillings in one year” (page 583)
James Howell, esquire, was a clerk of the Privy Council to King Charles I from 1628 to 1650 (page 368)
John and Mary Howell of England were left 20 pounds in the will of gentleman Henry Fielding of King & Queen County in Virginia. The will was dated October 26, 1704 and proved November 27, 1712. An extract reads: “To my dear daughter Frances Fielding all the residue of my estate, both real and personal, in England and Virginia. But if she die before attaining the age of twenty one years or marriage then I give all my whole estate to be equall divided between my dear mother Madam Francis Fielding and John and Mary Howell, son and daughter to my late dear wife.” (page 1448)
The will of Elizabeth Slaughter, 1645, of the diocese of Bristol, mentions the children of her sister Sibbill Howell (page 1002). 
The will Dr. Thomas Howell, Bishop of Bristol, was dated March 20, 1649 and proved on April 22, 1650. “My body to be decently buried on the right side of my late dear wife above the Bishop’s seat in the choir of the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity in Bristol. I devise my farm of Frogmore, situate in New Windsor to be equally divided amongst my children, my eldest son excepted because he is provided for already, for their present maintenance. Eldest daughter Frances, second son Thomas, second daughter Elizabeth, third son Arthur, third daughter Margaret, fourth son George, fifth son Henry, fourth daughter Anne, fifth daughter Lucy, and sixth son Charles to have certain specified sums. My dear sisters Mrs. Elizabeth Beeston, Mrs. Frances Sydenham, and Mrs. Lucy Bromfield, my dear brother Mr. Henry Bromfield, my dear friend Mr. Henry Champonte, and my dear nephew Mr. Richard Phillipps to be executors and my loving friends Mr. James Lambe of Titchfield and Mr. Chambers the parson of Wickham, both in the country of Hants, to be overseers and assistants unto my forenamed executors.” Dr. Thomas Howell’s wife in 1646 was named Honor, the daughter of Arthur Bromfield. (page 1429).
